getting where God is
The Journey ministry is kicking off its spring programming with a three week series on connecting with God. Our title is “Connections: getting where God is.” In part, the series title was inspired by an interview with Bono in which he said, “Someone gave me this good advice. Stop trying to get God to bless what you are doing. Find out what God is doing and go do that. It is already blessed.”
So in this series, we are asking the question, Where has God promised to meet us? Rather than sit around and mumble that we feel far from God we are looking at scripture and finding that God has given lots of clear teaching about how to reach out to God, even as God is reaching out to us.
Our first night was about service. We talked about how when we serve we serve as that body of Christ, and when we serve it is as if we are serving Christ.
It was a good evening and I am excited about the topic. I have a growing hunger to connect with God and if will be good for me to explore this topic with this great group of people.
The icing on the cake however was that our communion meditation the next day was on exactly the same topic. It was excellent. Somehow he managed to say in a few minutes what I took an hour to say the night before. To my credit, we had more food at the Journey event.

The short version is this, If you want to connect with God you need to get where God is.
